This is a mother earth painting and the earth is in various form e.g. as shown here as Kalpataru (wish fulfilling tree). The tree is a venerated icon in India- a symbol of life itself. In Indic tradition, a tree is not an object of nature- it is treated as a shrine, and this is reflected in art too. It flourishes above concentric circles where birds, fish and animals frolic. In the shade of its branches peacocks sit in pairs. Just below the earth level can be seen fishes who are also nourished by the kind mother. Tree gives us food. Shelter, and prosperity.
